What is it?

Beginning in May 2009, we will offer classes at the District Office for those pursuing a Certified, License or Ordination Credential. On the third weekend of each month, there will be one class provided in each of these tracks. The classes will be held Friday and Saturday here at the District Office. After the class, reading the textbook and taking the open book final can be done at home. The time of each class will be on Friday from 10:00am – 6:00pm and on Saturday from 9:00am till 3:00pm. This time schedule is so that those in ministry can get home on Saturday night to prepare for Sunday.

Why is it important?

SoCal School of Ministry comes out of the vision to raise up a generation of ministers ready to take the Gospel to today’s world. We realize that in order to accomplish this, we need a vision that is big enough and broad enough to impact a diverse group of individuals. We also need a system that will allow those already in ministry to move forward and continue their credential process all the way through ordination.

We believe this will be a great resource for those who can’t go away to college, for those who already are in the middle of life, for those making a mid-life career change, or for those already in ministry who need to move towards ordination.

Will it make a difference?

Regardless of whether you are pursuing your Certified Credential, your License or even your Ordination, there will be classes available for you to continue that journey. Just being IN ministry is not enough. We want to show ourselves as people who are learners and people who value the incredible call that God has placed on our lives for vocational ministry.

How Much Does It Cost?

$50.00 – A one-time student enrollment fee.
$119.00 – Per class which includes textbook, testing and all other fees and costs.
$50.00 – Per Class if you simply desire to audit.
$20.00 – Per Class if you desire to audit the class and are currently Ordained.

Ordination Investment

Upon entering the SoCal School of Ministry, our goal is to have you move forward and complete the Ordination process. Moving to the place of Ordination is so vital that we, as a District, want to be a part of that investment in you. We believe this education will not only benefit you, but it will benefit the local church, our district and the church at large. As an investment policy within our School, we will refund to you all SoCal School of Ministry tuition fees that you have incurred while in the SoCal School of Ministry, once you complete your schooling and move forward and are approved for Ordination within the SoCal District.

Disclaimer: Completing the SoCal School of Ministry is not a guarantee that you will receive your Ordination with the Assemblies of God. You must still go through the process required for approval.

Satellite Campuses:

The SoCal School of Ministry will include satellite campuses throughout our District so that extended commuting and an overnight stay will not be necessary. We are currently in discussions with our media team to find the best way to facilitate this vision. Since we do not know how long it will take to get this in place, we highly recommend you start with the District Office Campus while waiting for the satellite campus near you to be established. The goal is to start having these in place within the next year.
